Help Us Bring the AIDS Memorial Quilt to Sioux Falls for World AIDS Day
Rainbow Project Sioux Falls is partnering with the Transformation Project to host a powerful and meaningful World AIDS Day event on Monday, December 1st, 2025 at the PRISM Center, South Dakota’s only LGBTQ2S+ community center.
As part of the event, we are working to bring a panel of the AIDS Memorial Quilt to Sioux Falls for display at the PRISM Center. This historic and moving tribute honors the lives lost to HIV/AIDS and raises awareness about the ongoing impact of the epidemic, especially for LGBTQ2S+ youth and young adults who may not have learned about this important part of their history.
The cost to bring the quilt panel to our city is $600 and returning the quilt is an additional $150 and as a small, grassroots nonprofit, Rainbow Project Sioux Falls is asking for your help to make this happen.
Your donation, no matter the amount, helps us honor lives lost, educate our LGBTQ2S+ community, and continue advocating for visibility and awareness.
Thank you for supporting Rainbow Project Sioux Falls as we work to bring an important part of LGBTQ2S+ history and community to Sioux Falls. Your support truly makes a difference.

Update – July 7, 2025

We’re excited to share that our events calendar is filling up! Take a look at some of what’s coming up and be sure to visit our events calendar for full details.
We’re excited to be partnering with the Prism Center for Family Hangouts, starting in September! These fun, welcoming events are created especially for our youngest LGBTQ2S+ community members (under 12) and their families. We’re also planning a little “parent pampering” time during these gatherings, more on that soon!
Starting this fall, ceramics and graphic design classes will be held on Saturdays at Augustana University. These classes will be taught by Augustana art professors who specialize in ceramics and graphic design. The classes are open to youth and teens. Stay tuned for more details and how to sign up!
We’re also hard at work planning our World AIDS Day event on December 1, in partnership with the Transformation Project and hosted at the Prism Center.

Best of all, all events are always free! Just come as you are, feel welcome, and enjoy being part of a supportive, affirming community.

Thank you for being part of our journey, we hope to see you at an upcoming event and have the chance to meet you soon!

With gratitude and pride,
Rainbow Project Sioux Falls
